In a new review article on preschool lung function testing published in Current Opinion in Allergy and Clinical Immunology, Ventica® is regarded as a new promising lung function test for infants. Although they recognized the difficulty of obtaining reliable measurements, the authors stressed the importance of lung function testing in the differential diagnosis of asthma symptoms at preschool age. However, regarding Ventica, they concluded that “This test is easy to perform in home settings and also gives valuable information of infants’ breathing patterns at home during nighttime when asthma symptoms such as coughing can be most disturbing”.
